Committee members said Home Depot has cut and will deliver lumber for boardwalks next Friday, the town can store materials near the trails shed, and the Bay Circuit Trail coordinator offered volunteer help for a small trail project.
Trails Committee members on March 20 said materials for multiple town boardwalks have been cut and will be delivered to Southborough, and that volunteer support is available to help build a short trail and provide access to bridge construction sites.
“Home Depot has finished cutting out the lumber for the boardwalks that we’re gonna do throughout town… that’s gonna get delivered next Friday at the cemetery,” Trails Committee member Kat McKee said. McKee said she will coordinate with the Department of Public Works (DPW) on delivery, arrange tarping for stored lumber and notify local scout groups about build opportunities.
McKee also reported an outreach email from AMC: “Amber Stearns is the Bay Circuit Trail Coordinator. She’s… curious if we needed any volunteers for that small trail that we’re trying to build,” McKee said. She said she will follow up with Amber Stearns to schedule volunteer work to build a natural-surface access trail that would also provide construction access for the bridge and boardwalk areas.
On recruitment, McKee said a person named Angel expressed ongoing interest in supporting trails work but will be out of the country for a couple of weeks; McKee will follow up the week of March 24 to clarify whether Angel seeks a formal committee appointment or wants to assist occasionally.
Committee members discussed using DPW space near the trails shed for temporary storage and involving scouts and other volunteers in staged work sessions. No formal volunteer assignments or build dates were adopted at the meeting.
