Board adopts revised Policy 4:110 after debate over transportation for youngest students

The Park Ridge CCSD 64 Board voted to approve the second reading and adoption of Policy 4:110 of the board’s policy manual.

Joel told the board nothing had changed since the first reading. A board member who identified herself as Rachel said she understood administration’s logistical concerns but remained concerned about access for the district’s youngest, neediest students. “I still think for me, just providing that transportation for our neediest younger students is really important,” she said.

Gareth moved adoption and Phyllis seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with one dissenting vote. A board member asked administration to continue exploring transportation options and partnerships to address access for affected families.

Board members noted the policy affects logistics and equity considerations and said the administration would continue to look for feasible alternatives and report back.
