Commission to track volunteer hours via Galaxy platform; staff to retroactively log early 2025 hours

City staff asked Sustainability Commission members to register on the Galaxy volunteer platform so the city can track commission meeting time and event volunteer hours for internal reporting and grants.

Rose told commissioners to sign up with their sammamish.us email address, confirm via the emailed link and then she will work with Francine to join each commissioner to the Sustainability Commission group in Galaxy. She said staff will retroactively log hours for January, February and the current meeting and recommended commissioners log two hours for each monthly meeting going forward.

Staff said logged hours route to Francine and Rose for approval; approved hours will be used in year‑end reporting and may be used for awards. The commission discussed registration details (password resets, email addresses and whether to use personal emails); staff said it is possible to use a personal email but recommended sammamish.us addresses when available to allow automatic linkage to the commission group.

Rose said staff will take two to five minutes at the end of each meeting to have commissioners log hours together. She said the city uses those volunteer metrics in grant applications and for internal reporting. "We'll be able to retroactively add the hours from January, February, and then today's meeting," she said.
