The Cumming Planning & Zoning Commission voted unanimously March 18 to forward Webb Property Group, LLC’s rezoning application (Rezoning No. 2025004) to the city council for approval.
Richard Webb, who identified himself as the property owner, stated at the hearing that he would be recused. The commission proceeded with the public hearing and asked the applicant to summarize the proposal. Webb said the site is behind the former hospital and described the anticipated use as a small number of single-family houses ("two or three houses for family"), a description he amended in discussion to "four, whatever it takes." The property was described as vacant and the applicant indicated the plan is to construct detached single-family homes.
Scott (planning staff) summarized the application: the owner applied to rezone roughly 23.179 acres from institutional to single-family residential R1A for construction of detached homes. Staff said the request conforms to the city's comprehensive plan, which designates the land for low-density residential and parks/recreation/conservation. Scott recommended approval and reminded the commission that plans and permits must be submitted and approved prior to site work.
The commission moved to forward the rezoning to the council with staff’s recommendation; the motion passed unanimously. Owner Richard Webb recused himself from deliberations on this item.
