The council unanimously approved a $95,700 contract with Precision Momentum Contractors to resurface about 43,000 square feet of hardwood at Dobbs Creek Recreation Center; work is scheduled July 26–August 27 and will close the gym during that time.
The Cumming Mayor and Council voted unanimously to award a $95,700 contract to Precision Momentum Contractors to resurface the hardwood floor at the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center gym.
Parks and recreation staff presented the project and said the work covers roughly 43,000 square feet of hardwood, including sanding to bare wood, repairing areas damaged by water intrusion, adding permanent court lines for volleyball, pickleball and basketball, and installing additional anchors for volleyball. The presenter said the work will use a water‑based coat and sealer.
The contractor will begin work on July 26 and the project is expected to run through Aug. 27; the center will be closed for the duration of the work. Three bids were presented: Gameday Sports ($97,700), Seabay Sports ($115,578) and Extraordinary Ventures d/b/a Black Eagle Construction ($132,235.50). The staff recommended Precision Momentum Contractors at $95,700.
A council member moved to approve the contract; the motion passed 4‑0.
Context: Staff said prior roof and door leaks that contributed to water intrusion had been addressed before pursuing the resurfacing work.
