Several residents spoke during public comments, pressing the court to fix a heavily damaged road and objecting to a proposed solar farm memorandum of understanding; the court also recognized the Ohio County Skills/Archery Club and acknowledged a $1,000 bill payment to support targets.
Delmer Cook and another resident said multiple years of timber hauling had left Cook Lane and adjacent roads in poor condition, with the paved surface reduced to gravel and vehicle damage reported. Court members told the residents they would inspect the road and check bonding records for the timber company; staff followed up during the meeting that the operation had been bonded and repairs would be pursued.
A second public speaker identified as Mr. Taylor urged the court to reconsider a memorandum of understanding related to a proposed solar farm, saying the projected economic benefits were overstated and expressing concern about local impacts. Taylor stated he believed earlier county estimates of construction occupational tax revenue were inaccurate and said residents would continue to press to vacate the MOU; court members did not take action on the solar discussion during the meeting.
The court also recognized members and officers of the Ohio County Skills/Archery Club, which is heading to state competition. County officials confirmed a $1,000 line in bills and claims (to M and L Event Services) would be used to purchase targets and expedite payment so the club could meet an event deadline. The bill was included in the earlier vote to accept bills and claims.
