Council tables decision on Illuminate Isanti donation split pending event closeout

The Isanti City Council on Jan. 6 agreed to postpone a decision on how to disburse Illuminate Isanti donations until the city closes out December and compiles final event financials.

City staff reported the event collected $798.74 in public donations and $9,000 in sponsor contributions. Under the event’s original agreement, the city retains 60% of donations and gives 40% to volunteer groups; staff proposed possibly including some sponsor cash in the volunteer split to increase payouts, but council members expressed concern about reallocating sponsor funds that may have been given specifically to the city’s event operation.

Council members asked staff to provide final expense and revenue numbers before any disbursement decisions are made. The council voted to table the payment decision until the meeting following the city’s December closeout (anticipated in early February); the motion passed 4-0.
