Finance committee votes to rename itself 'Finance and Risk Management Committee'

At a Board of Nursing finance committee meeting (date not specified), committee members voted to rename the group the "Finance and Risk Management Committee" and recommended that the full board amend the articles of incorporation to reflect the change.

Committee members said the name change reflects an expanded focus on risk areas such as cybersecurity and gives the committee explicit authority to review sensitive matters that other committees may refer to it.

A staff member who spoke during the discussion said the new language is intended to align the committee with recently approved state information-technology guidance and to give the committee a clearer role if future policy requires additional oversight. "It is a bit more detailed, but given the nature of what we're trying to oversee and make sure that we keep ourselves in compliance with the new rules and policies of the state, maybe expanded responsibilities isn't the right term," the staff member said.

A committee member moved to rename the finance committee to the Finance and Risk Management Committee and to recommend that the full board modify the articles of incorporation to reflect the duties as presented. A second was recorded and the motion carried on a voice vote.
