The State Building Code Council Executive Committee approved three TAG appointments during its April 4, 2025 meeting, taking a voice vote to accept proposed members for the single-exit multiplex housing, wildland-urban interface and fire-tag alternates.
The confirmations matter because TAG members advise technical code development and representation on those tags affects which stakeholders help shape future code language. Committee chair Roger Haringa moved to approve the slate and Tom Handy seconded; the committee approved the appointments by voice vote, with no roll-call recorded.
The committee reviewed individual applicants for several slots. Dustin (staff) outlined the applications and said the single-exit multiplex housing list included Jesse Bank and a later application from David Lynam. Dustin also noted a new applicant, Greg Rogers, as a fire official alternate. Patrick Hanks, representing the Building Industry Association of Washington, and Dave Pocott of the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals joined public comment during the discussion. Roger Haringa said the single-exit TAG “kicks off at 1PM on Monday,” and the committee confirmed attendees should participate whether or not formally selected.
The committee did not record a roll-call vote or publish a count for the approval; minutes state the slate was approved after a voice vote. The committee also noted additional TAG meetings and encouraged applicants to attend upcoming TAG sessions to observe or participate.
The approvals will be reflected in TAG rosters and the council’s agenda for the full council meeting on April 18, 2025. No further formal actions on appointments were taken at the meeting.
