The Oklahoma House of Representatives honored the Seacrest family as the chamber’s Veterans of the Week on April 7, 2025. Representative Brinsky sponsored the recognition and Representative Dabrinski introduced the family on the House floor.
Dabrinski described the Seacrests as “a family of patriots” from his district and recounted years of service across the family: Bill Seacrest’s multiple periods of service in the Oklahoma Army National Guard; John P. Seacrest’s 21 years of service, retiring in 2018; Travis Seacrest’s Marine Corps service and later National Guard service ending in 2013 after medical retirement; and Melissa Seacrest’s service beginning in 2007 and continuing in a civilian role as executive assistant to the adjutant general, Major General Thomas Mancino.
Representative Dabrinski credited the Oklahoma National Guard with providing air support during wildfires in Blaine County in 2022 and said he contacted Major General Mancino for assistance. “To my surprise, he quickly and politely interrupted me, letting me know his executive assistant was also on the call. And as I remember it, he said, ‘Representative, I know enough about you. And if you're calling asking for my help, we're prepared to do everything within our power to help,’” Dabrinski said on the floor.
The representative noted family deployments to Bosnia (1999), Kuwait and the initial push into Iraq (2003), hurricane response in Louisiana (2005), and additional Iraq deployments in 2008. He recounted that Travis Seacrest received a Purple Heart after being wounded by a roadside bomb and that family members wear the combat infantry badge.
The House presented citations to the family and asked the gallery to stand; Sergeant William Seacrest led the Pledge of Allegiance following the recognition.
The recognition was ceremonial and recorded in the House proceedings; no vote or policy action accompanied the tribute.
