The Select Board opened the meeting with several community announcements and student reports for the record.

Town Moderator Noreen Smith is hosting a candidate forum on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at the Charlton Public Library’s Dexter Hall; questions may be submitted in advance. The annual town election is Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Heritage School, and the last day to register to vote is April 23. The annual town meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at Charlton Middle School. Charlton’s Earth Day and Earth Fest is Saturday, April 26, 8 a.m.–2 p.m. at Palm Common.

The Charlton Business Alliance (represented by Cara Holland, vice president) announced a business expo on May 8 at Bay Path High School; 10-by-10 vendor spaces for nonmembers are $50 and applications remain open. Students from local schools provided routine school updates: Shepherd Hill reported athletics and show-choir performances, Bay Path highlighted SkillsUSA state competition preparations and prom planning. Town staff announced the town received a $17,540 Community Compact IT grant for multi-factor authentication implementation.

These announcements were informational; the board did not take formal action on the events or school activities during the meeting.
