The Town of Northborough Traffic Safety Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend a heavy commercial vehicle exclusion for Lincoln and Pleasant Streets and will forward the consultant recommendation to the Select Board.

Town staff reported that consultant Weston & Sampson had submitted a recommendation that both segments of Pleasant Street and Lincoln Street are eligible for a heavy vehicle exclusion because of roadway conditions and proximity to two schools. Scott (staff) said the submission “clearly indicate[s] that both roadways are eligible for the, heavy commercial vehicle exclusion.”

After discussion, a motion was made to recommend the exclusion to the Select Board. The motion received a second from committee member Kate. Roll-call voting produced five yes votes — Rachel, Brian, Kate, Chris and Chairman Bill Pierce — and the committee chair said the recommendation would be forwarded to the Select Board.

Committee members asked staff to resend the consultant submission to members who wanted more time to review the report before the Select Board presentation. Chairman Bill Pierce offered to attend the Select Board presentation if desired; Scott said he would arrange that.
