On Jan. 3, 2025, the Eagle Pass Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to rezone Lots 2 and 3 in Block 1 of the Enchanted Ridge Subdivision (2435 and 2467 North Veterans Boulevard) from R‑1, first‑family dwelling district, to B‑3, general business district, to recognize an existing childcare facility on the parcels.

Staff presented the application and said the two parcels came before the commission in October 2024 for a conditional‑use permit to allow the already‑operating childcare business. The department said the City master plan depicts the parcels for commercial use and that the rezoning request would bring zoning into alignment with that plan; staff sent 17 notices to abutting property owners and reported no letters in favor or opposition. The department recommended approval.

During the public hearing there were no public speakers or substantive questions from commissioners. A motion to grant the zoning district change was made, seconded and approved unanimously. Dolores Salinas Sanchez was absent from the meeting; four commissioners voted in favor.

The rezoning satisfies the condition the commission attached when it previously approved the conditional‑use permit, staff said. No additional conditions were recorded at the time of the vote.
