The Murfreesboro City Council on April 10 approved a second-and-final reading of an ordinance amending City Code Chapter 4 (alcoholic beverages), authorized purchase of mobile data terminals for Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue, and adopted Resolution 25-R-12 supporting the Central Tennessee Regional Solid Waste Planning Board’s flow-control measures. The council also revoked one previously approved beer permit and granted five new or transferred permits.
The alcoholic-beverages ordinance (Ordinance 23-030) passed on second and final reading by roll call vote, with Councilmembers Miss Aberwater, Miss Gail Harris, Mr. Maxwell, Vice Mayor Schacklett, Mr. Wade and Mr. Wright and Mayor Mary McFarland recorded as voting “Aye.”
Council also approved an IT purchase for Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue: 30 ruggedized Panasonic Toughbooks with vehicle docks and accidental-damage coverage, procured through the Omnia Partners contract and funded from the FY25 capital-improvement plan. Staff estimated the total cost at approximately $144,000.
The council adopted Resolution 25-R-12 to express support for the Central Tennessee Regional Solid Waste Planning Board’s authority to manage regional waste flow and to urge enforcement by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and the Solid Waste Disposal Control Board. The resolution was presented by Donna Barrett and passed by roll call.
On permits, the council voted to revoke a prior beer-permit approval after staff said the applicant did not meet city-code requirements. Later the council approved five permit items pending final building and code inspections; Mayor McFarland abstained from those permit votes.
No additional formal actions were recorded at the meeting on the items summarized here.
