At their April 11 meeting, the Lorain County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine financial and administrative actions, ratified two tentative union agreements, authorized participation in an ODOT winter road salt contract, and consented to a legal services agreement with Carlisle Township. The board approved tentative collective bargaining agreements affecting county employees:
- A tentative agreement with United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (case 2024 MED 808302) covering Lorain County Board of Commissioners employees, effective retroactive to Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027. The motion passed with Commissioner Moore, Commissioner Gallagher and Commissioner Riddell voting aye.
- A tentative agreement for the Lorain County Clerk of Courts with United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (case 2024 MED 091104), effective Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027. The motion passed with the same three aye votes.
Other formal actions approved during the meeting included:
- Participation in the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) winter contract for road salt for the upcoming season. Motion passed unanimously.
- Consent to an agreement for the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office to serve as law director for Carlisle Township (statutory authority cited in the meeting as Ohio Revised Code section 504.15). The agreement was described as retroactive to Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 3, 2025, with Carlisle Township appropriating $15,000 and payment in quarterly installments for up to 150 hours of work; hours beyond 150 would be billed at $100 per hour. The motion passed unanimously.
