The West Irondequoit Board of Education reviewed the annual lease renewal May 8 for Sunshine Daycare's use of space at Hope Hughes School.

Facilities staff presented a first look at the lease, which dates to 2012 and has been extended annually. The proposed renewal keeps existing terms, with the rent increase formula tied to the district's tax-levy increase. Administration noted a previously added clause addressing the possibility that taxes might be assessed against the daycare portion of the property; if that happens the daycare would pay a proportional share of assessed taxes based on square footage, consistent with how taxes are calculated.

The lease review was informational, and the administration said it will bring the document back for board action at the May 29 meeting. Board members had no substantive questions at the first reading and thanked staff for the overview.
