Janae Ledger, analyst for Legislative Building Services, told the Appropriations & Finance committee the executive recommendation maintained a flat operating budget for FY25 while the Legislative Service Commission (LSC) recommended $28,000 in additional spending.
"The executive recommendation is flat with the operating budget for FY25. The LSC recommendation is $28,000 over, and that's primarily for the increase in the workers' compensation rate," Ledger said.
Representative Herrera asked whether the LBS budget covers all day-to-day services in the Capitol. Ledger replied that the LBS budget funds personnel, security, maintenance and routine supplies; larger capital or furniture projects are funded through House Bill 1's capital upgrades budget.
Representative Little moved to accept the LFC recommendation; Representative Chatfield seconded the motion. The chair recorded no opposition to the motion and the committee accepted the LFC recommendation for the Legislative Building Services budget.
Staff also told members they would distribute reauthorization recommendations for appropriations that agencies have asked for additional time to spend; those items were highlighted for review before a vote scheduled Monday. The committee then adjourned the full meeting and formed work groups.
