Victoria County commissioners received an executed contract Aug. 18 with Beck Wright & Sons Ltd. for a phase 1 ditch-drainage and road-restoration project on Old Highway Road in Precinct 4 and rejected the other bidders.

Commissioner Sexton described the project as a drainage and road-restoration effort intended to address chronic water-over-road problems. County staff confirmed the court’s prior approval of the contract and asked the court to receive the executed agreement and formally reject other bids.

The court moved, seconded and approved receipt of the executed contract and rejection of other bids. No individual vote tallies were read into the record.

Why it matters: The project is intended to address recurring drainage and roadway damage on Old Highway Road and to restore normal traffic operations in that area of Precinct 4.

The court’s action was to receive the executed agreement and proceed with the contract award; staff will oversee project implementation per the contract terms.
