Fraser City Council approved the Department of Public Works’ purchase of a salt-dome kit from ClearSpan for $14,591.73.

Public Works staff told council the purchase was discussed during the budget process and is needed to store and manage road-salt supplies and related materials; the kit includes retaining blocks and other materials for construction of the dome.

Councilmember Shornack moved to approve the purchase and Councilmember Baranski seconded. No public speakers addressed the item. The council approved the purchase by a 6-1 voice vote.

Staff said the city will build the dome using the kit and existing public-works resources; no additional procurement or third-party construction contract was presented in the meeting packet.

The purchase is intended to support winter maintenance operations by improving on-site salt storage and reducing equipment handling during storms.
