Police commission adopts phlebotomy policy (General Order 17-15)

The Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners approved General Order 17-15, the department's phlebotomy policy and procedure, following a motion to accept the order.

Commissioners discussed that the item had been tabled two months earlier and that members and staff had opportunity to review the policy before the vote. Commissioner Catino made the motion to accept the policy, which Commissioner Pollock seconded. The board held a roll-call vote; Commissioners Rich, Pollock, Catino and President Polling voted yes and the motion carried.

According to the meeting discussion, the policy had been examined in detail during the tabling period and was returned to the agenda for approval. No amendments were recorded during the meeting; commissioners indicated they had reviewed the policy in advance. The commission approved the order and moved on to other business.
