The LaSalle County Public Safety Committee approved a five-year contract for sheriff’s dash cameras from Axon and reviewed court-security equipment needs, including bids for portable and entrance metal detectors.
The committee received a single bid recommendation for the sheriff’s dash cameras from Axon; the proposed five-year total was $110,992.80, paid in annual amounts (the vendor’s schedule shows rising annual payments over the term). Tom moved to accept the Axon contract for the sheriff’s dash cameras; Wally seconded the motion and the committee approved the contract by voice vote.
Court-security staff reported that some existing entrance metal detectors are over 10 years old and presented quotes for replacements. Staff presented two vendor quotes for new detectors: a Paragon ADA model at $6,922 each and a PD 6500 model at $4,117 each. The committee discussed procurement and concluded some specific technical and security details should be discussed in executive session; a motion to go into executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(8) (security procedures and personnel/equipment use to respond to threatened danger) was made by Tom, seconded by Wally, and approved by roll call.
No final procurement motion for the metal detectors was taken in public session; staff said current detectors could remain as backups and recommended two new entrance units with costs to be finalized after executive-session discussion and specification selection.
