The Livingston County Board approved spending about $123,000 for structural stabilization work on the courthouse clock tower after a report from the Property Committee on Aug. 14, 2025. Committee members said wood members in the tower had deteriorated and engineers recommended replacement of major beams to preserve the building's structural stability.

Property committee chair Gerald Earing told commissioners the work involves installing large (70‑foot) 10x10 beams and that scaffolding and careful installation are required. The committee said it had obtained an engineering quote and sought expedited action to complete the repairs before the clock mechanism is reinstalled in October. The motion to approve the repair contract passed by roll call.
