Sachem announces food pantry partnership at Sachem North; SAGE open houses and welcome events planned

District staff reported several community programs and outreach initiatives at the Aug. 6 Sachem Board of Education meeting, including a Stop & Shop partnership to support a student‑run food pantry at Sachem North and upcoming open houses and welcome events. Mrs. Trombetta, presenting the SAGE and superintendent’s report, said the CESI open house was scheduled for the following day and that the district’s summer special‑education program "has been doing a fabulous job." She also said the district’s social media and a new website (to be unveiled soon) include drone footage showcasing district programs. Trombetta described a new food pantry at Sachem North run by the Interact Club and said Stop & Shop will partner with the school "for the food pantry this year." She encouraged families in need to reach out and said the district will highlight the pantry on social media and at the Welcome to SAGEAM event at Seneca Middle School from 5 to 7 p.m. the following Thursday, where PTAs and other resources will be available and backpacks will be distributed. The board welcomed new hires and recognized retirees during the personnel portion of the meeting but took no formal action tied to the food pantry announcement. The administration said it will continue to promote the pantry and community events on social media and at school welcome activities.
