RAC elects new chair and vice chair; Eric Major named chair, Nathan Crapo vice chair
Summary
At its Aug. 7 meeting the Northeastern Region RAC elected Eric Major as chair and Nathan (Nate) Crapo as vice chair; the council discussed responsibilities and reimbursement for board representation.
The Northeastern Region Advisory Council elected Eric Major as RAC chair and Nathan (Nate) Crapo as vice chair during its Aug. 7 meeting.
Multiple RAC members were nominated earlier in the meeting; Mark Chenoweth and Natasha Hatton were nominated but Mark declined and Hatton did not appear. After discussion about continuity and representation at wildlife board meetings, a motion was made and seconded to nominate Major for chair; the motion passed unanimously. A separate motion nominated Nathan Crapo for vice chair; that motion also passed unanimously.
Council members discussed the chair role, which runs meetings and often represents the RAC at the Utah Wildlife Board. Division staff reminded members the chair may attend board meetings in person or join electronically when permitted, and noted the Division can reimburse mileage and certain lodging expenses when a RAC chair travels to represent the RAC at a board meeting. The RAC did not change its representation policy but confirmed Major will represent the RAC at the next wildlife board meeting on Aug. 21 unless scheduling conflicts arise.
The chair and vice chair terms and eligibility were discussed briefly; staff noted a RAC chair may serve up to two two‑year terms (four years total). The new officers will serve until the RAC reconvenes or until the RAC votes otherwise.
