Commissioners adopt resolution to accept Purdue Pharma bankruptcy plan and authorize prosecutor to file county ballot

At the Sept. 11 meeting, the Mahoning County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to accept the plan submitted in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy case and authorized the county prosecutor to submit an official ballot on behalf of the county and take additional steps necessary related to the plan.

County staff described the resolution as an authorization for the prosecutor to act in the bankruptcy process; no dollar amounts, distribution schedules or final settlement terms were discussed during the meeting. The resolution was listed as item b under resolutions a through g and was approved by roll call along with the other resolutions.

Commissioners did not present supporting legal analyses or take further public comment on the record about the county's position; the board's action authorizes the prosecutor to complete the county's response in the bankruptcy proceeding.
