The Liberty Hill City Council on Aug. 13 appointed three people to fill vacancies on the Downtown Revitalization Committee (DRC) and agreed to retain a city email account for a volunteer consultant.
Kristen LeBaron, chair of the Downtown Revitalization Committee, addressed the council during public comment and said the committee unanimously recommended three of six applicants. “She is an eager, community volunteer. She is very active in our community and will be an amazing addition to our board,” LeBaron said referring to one candidate, Odallis Suarez (spelling per public comment). LeBaron also recommended Heather Evans, a downtown business owner, and Chastity Middleton based on their application responses.
Council considered terms and placement: the council placed Odallis Suarez into a seat that will expire in 2027 and assigned the other two appointees to seats that expire in 2026. The council also agreed to let Daniel Scott retain his city email address to allow volunteer consulting with the committee. A councilmember moved to approve the appointments and the related administrative email access; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously, 7–0.
Why it matters: Filling DRC vacancies restores the committee’s membership so it can continue downtown planning and projects. The retention of the consultant email account formalizes an administrative support arrangement.
Procedural notes: LeBaron provided her home address for the record and indicated the DRC had interviewed six applicants before making its recommendations. The council moved the DRC appointments to the top of the regular agenda to ensure candidates and the committee chair could attend.
