Grand County commissioners approved a motion to waive building permit fees for the Space to Create project in Grand Lake, a mixed-use development that will include nine single-family residences and a roughly 3,000-square-foot makerspace. County staff said the waiver is consistent with the county’s practice of waiving fees for other governments and public-benefit projects.
Space to Create is near completion of fundraising and construction; a county economic development official said the project is “less than $300,000 of about $7,000,000” from completion. The waiver covers building permit charges for nine residences and the makerspace; town-level approvals will still apply for Grand Lake.
Commissioners moved and approved the fee waiver. Staff noted the county routinely waives fees for other government or public projects and will finalize documentation for the waiver.
