A vendor has proposed erecting a communications tower of approximately 150 feet on county property north of the fairgrounds, and commissioners asked for a site plan and proposed lease or rate terms before deciding whether to pursue the project.
County Administrator Scott said the proposed tower would sit on the Palmerall property adjacent to the fairgrounds and that, if the county wishes to proceed, the vendor would also need city approval. Commissioner Hale and other commissioners requested a service-area map, a site plan and a proposed payment schedule for the county; Commissioner Hale said the initial number the vendor proposed was not acceptable and asked staff to negotiate or bring back a firm proposal for the board.
The board agreed by consensus to invite the vendor to present a site plan and rate proposal at the second September meeting so members could review the coverage map, financial terms and potential impacts on future commercial development of the property.
