Michigan City — At its Sept. 2 meeting the Michigan City Finance Committee reported city riverboat fund transactions, rainy‑day fund claims and the city’s budget timeline for fall 2025.
The finance report listed riverboat and riverboat EFT transactions and a rainy‑day disbursement of $138,480.10 for Rethan Riley Construction Company and Schneider Geometrics among the docketed claims; the committee asked the council to approve the total claims of $388,480.10. The council voted to approve the claims unanimously.
The committee also reported year‑to‑date riverboat and rainy‑day ending balances of $4,798,819.44 and $1,167,490.42, respectively (grand total $5,966,309.85) as of Sept. 2, 2025.
Budget schedule: The city released its fall budget timeline: budget presentation Sept. 11, 2025; first reading and public materials Sept. 16; council workshops with departments Sept. 24 (with an alternate Sept. 25 if needed); budget workshop follow‑up Sept. 30; second reading and public hearing Oct. 7; and a possible third reading Oct. 21 if necessary.
