The Mason County Board of Commissioners approved consolidated homeless grant subcontracts for 2026–2027 with Crossroads Housing, New Horizons Communities, Turning Point Survivor Advocacy Center and the Youth Connection as part of the action agenda. During the public comment period, Rachel, outreach specialist for the Shelton Youth Connection, thanked the county for ongoing support and outlined the organization’s outreach to young people ages 12 to 24 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Rachel said the Youth Connection operates outreach vans and drop-in centers, provides hot meals, hygiene items and transitional housing, and reported that more than 7,000 youth used their Shelton and Belfair centers in 2024 with 2025 numbers already higher. The contracts approved in the action agenda were listed by staff during the meeting; approval of the subcontracts passed as part of the board’s action agenda votes.
