Port Angeles School District administrators told the board Aug. 7 that they will hold architect presentations for planned projects and announced two recent hires in district operations.

The superintendent said three architectural firms will present plans for Franklin at a special meeting on Aug. 14, while two firms will present plans for Port Angeles High School on Aug. 15. The board will select firms and the district will negotiate contracts after presentations, the superintendent said.

The district also announced that Eric Britton has started as the new maintenance director and that Mikaela (last name not provided in the transcript) has joined as the district’s special education director. The superintendent described Britton’s first days on the job, saying staff had taken him on walk-throughs of several schools, and the new special education director spoke briefly to thank staff for a warm welcome.

The superintendent said principals will return for training and that district teams are finalizing budget preparations for the 2025–26 school year. The board’s upcoming schedule includes a budget work session Aug. 14 and other architect presentations the following week.

No formal board action was recorded on staffing hires or the architect solicitation during the Aug. 7 meeting; the architects’ presentations and any subsequent contract actions were described as the next steps in project planning.
