Paving grant: Officials explained that the legislature approved approximately $439,000 for paving of two county roads under the Local Agency Reporting Program (LARP); because bids came in higher than the legislative estimate, staff advised the court that an additional $40,000 or so would be required to cover the difference. The court adopted the resolution to accept the funds and the memorandum of agreement with the state and to proceed with contracting for the low bidder (H & B).
Four Mile Road slips: Staff described three slips of varying severity along Four Mile Road and reported cost estimates for full repairs: slip 1 ~ $76,000; slip 2 ~ $68,000; slip 3 ~ $130,000. The county had emergency funds and municipal road-aid funding available. The court authorized the judge to sign contracts to repair slips 2 and 3 (the two worst) and to pursue reimbursement routes where feasible. Officials said FEMA reimbursement timelines are uncertain, so the county would pay for the repairs and seek federal or state reimbursement as appropriate.
Outcome: The resolution to accept the LARP grant passed on voice vote. A separate motion directing the judge to sign contracts for repairs to slips 2 and 3 carried, and staff were told to proceed with work and billing through available emergency and state programs.
