John Thomas, representing SOB Pipe Solutions, asked the Public Works and Safety Board on Sept. 3 to approve a detour on Greer Street from Noble to Lockton to allow installation of a sewer main and two sewer laterals.
Thomas told the board the detour route will run from Noble to Smart Street down to Lockton and asked for the closure to run from Sept. 10 through Oct. 13. City staff confirmed the applicant had submitted plans and that about 15 homes on the route would be affected; emergency access and school and public-safety notifications were to be coordinated prior to the closure.
Board members moved and seconded approval of the detour; the motion passed by voice vote.
The applicant and staff said through traffic to residences would still be possible for those properties, and that Meridian Street (mentioned in discussion) remains open but will need repairs later in the project.
