The committee reviewed the golf operation budget and capital requests, including a proposed irrigation-system replacement that staff and committee members said would materially improve course conditions and long-term operating costs.
Golf pro Bob (Golf pro) summarized pricing decisions that raised several membership tiers (individual up to $100 in the plan) and modest green-fee and package increases. Staff said a continued marketing push, expanded instruction programs and increased public rounds contributed to forecast revenue increases for FY26.
Maintenance and capital needs dominated the discussion. Justin (Golf maintenance) said the maintenance crew had improved efficiency with newer equipment, which lowered repair-and-maintenance projections. Both he and Bob urged consideration of accelerating the $900,000 irrigation replacement project from reserves if favorable timing or pricing allows; committee members noted accelerating the project could save money on future equipment and installation costs but would draw down reserves unless financed externally.
Staff reiterated that capital planning should be coordinated with the overall reserve study and that the Budget & Finance Committee is willing to recommend accelerated funding if the board wants to act early.
The committee asked for an updated asset-replacement schedule for the fire department and golf equipment to ensure capital plans and timing align with the reserve-study update.
