The Mountain View'Los Altos school board voted unanimously to approve a contract for LEA BOP (Local Educational Agency Billing Option Program) medical billing services to support reimbursement for services provided to students who are Medi'Cal-eligible or receive specialized medical services through special education.

District staff explained the contract covers LEA BOP billing for special-education students and general-education students with Medi'Cal-eligible services. "This one's specifically for medical billing... LEA BOP, which is specific to students who receive special education services and have medical and or a general education student who has Medi Cal," a staff presenter said.

Administrators said the new contract complements the district's existing school-based billing contract (described as a multi-payer fee-schedule contract with MBT), which handles a broader range of school-based billing functions. Board member Catherine said she was pleased the district was moving to capture reimbursements for medical services and moved to approve the contract; the motion passed 4'0'0.

The approval does not itself guarantee a particular reimbursement level; it authorizes the district to engage the vendor and pursue LEA BOP claims. Staff said the contract has no net change in hours or wages for district employees and focuses on administrative billing functions.
