The Duplin County Board of Commissioners approved two airport change orders after presentation by an airport commission representative.
Josh Rainer, speaking for the airport commission, asked the board to approve Change Order 1 to the hangar construction contract in the amount of $2,627,745. He said the request represents the remaining balance of a stated guaranteed maximum price of $3,600,000 and that the change order will be paid from the county's transportation reserve. The airport commission unanimously recommended the change order.
Rainer also requested approval of Change Order 1 to the taxiway connector contract in the amount of $10,024.14. The presenter said that project is 90% funded by the North Carolina Department of Aviation and 10% locally.
Commissioner Edwards moved to approve the hangar change order; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Garner. Commissioners then approved the taxiway change order on a motion by Commissioner Garner and a second by Commissioner Edwards; the transcript records voice approvals for both motions.
The transcript does not include the contractor's full corporate names in consistent spelling; the presenter referenced a contractor name in the hangar item and a second firm for the taxiway item. The record shows the airport commission reviewed both requests and recommended approval to the board.
