Board approves $70,000 contract under TEA LASO grant to develop district literacy framework
Summary
Board approved purchasing Strong Foundations literacy support services from Sustained ED Leaders for $70,000 funded by the TEA LASO Cycle 3 grant to help the district develop a local literacy framework and implement state-required supports.
The Rockport-Fulton ISD board on Thursday approved a $70,000 contract with Sustained ED Leaders to support development of the district’s literacy framework, funded by the Texas Education Agency’s LASO Cycle 3 grant.
Jessica Robins, who presented the item, said the LASO grant requires the district to work with an approved provider and that TEA sets standard funding amounts by provider. Robins said the district selected Sustained ED Leaders after reviewing the state list of providers and receiving a recommendation from neighboring Aransas Pass ISD, which has worked with the group.
Trustees unanimously approved the purchase and authorized district staff to finalize the contract. Robins told the board the work will guide the district’s literacy framework development and that training materials for implementation are supplied through the TEA grant process.
The board’s approval allows the district to begin facilitated planning and support under the LASO grant; no local general-fund dollars were proposed for the contract.
