Board approved a home‑occupation use permit for a bakery at a single‑family residence after neighbors voiced support but denied most storage‑structure waivers, allowing only an existing permanent shed to remain and ordering a one‑year review.
The Paradise Advisory Board on Aug. 26 approved a home‑occupation use permit for a bakery at a residence on Mill Avenue but denied most of the applicant’s requested waivers for accessory storage structures, allowing only one pre‑existing shed to remain in place.
An applicant representative requesting the permit said the bakery receives “Per day, no more than 5” direct customers and that most orders are online. Jim Walsh, a neighbor at 3856 Fremont Avenue, told the board he and nearby residents did not object. “Nobody has any objections at all,” Walsh said.
Board members expressed concern about multiple auxiliary structures, tarps and uncovered storage on the property. One board member said the temporary tarps and several light structures were unacceptable if the site is to be used for a home business. The board voted to approve the use permit with a one‑year administrative review and approved relief only for “Shed 1,” which the board found was pre‑existing and structurally integrated with the house; all other storage units were denied waivers and must be brought into compliance or removed.
