The Harford County Sheriff’s Office told the County Council Tuesday that the county executive has agreed to keep the joint mobile command unit at the Southern Precinct after recent questions about its placement.
Sheriff (first name presented as Gail in the public record) and Captain Crewlock, commander of the special operations division, briefed council members on the vehicle’s history, capital funding and operational use. The sheriff thanked council members and county staff for convening parties and said the administration’s letter agreeing to maintain the unit at the Southern Precinct had been circulated to the council.
Council members representing southern districts — and members who requested information — thanked the sheriff and staff for meeting in advance of the meeting and for providing background on why the Southern Precinct is the appropriate storage and deployment location. One council member noted municipal partners and southern precinct call volumes as reasons the unit is regularly used in that part of the county.
No formal action or vote was taken during the meeting; council discussion focused on transparency and interagency cooperation, and the sheriff’s office said it is available to answer follow‑up questions.
The sheriff’s office presentation was brief and council members called a short recess after concluding the topic.
