Routt County commissioners approved a supplemental budget Oct. 21 to authorize purchase of one electric snowblower for each of the Milner and Phippsburg wastewater treatment plants at an estimated cost of $2,000 per unit, $4,000 total.

Environmental health staff said both wastewater facilities are newly constructed and require on‑site snow removal to maintain safe access to buildings and equipment during winter operations. County accounting staff explained the supplemental was required because the snowblower units are “controllable assets” that must be added to the county’s fixed‑asset system even though each unit costs less than the county’s $20,000 purchase threshold.

Commissioners moved to approve the supplemental budget forms and signed the required paperwork; the motion passed by voice vote with commissioners saying “Aye.” Staff noted that Milner’s projected net income loss and differing reserve levels between the two facilities reflect grant funding changes and operational factors, not the small equipment purchase.

The approved action authorizes procurement of two electric snowblowers for the plants; staff will complete purchasing and asset‑recordation procedures.
