Seaford — The Mayor and Council voted Sept. 9 to award a bid for a desktop meter test station to Tesco for $28,535.27 and authorized a $35.27 budget override to cover a slight overrun.
City staff said the desktop metering station will allow the electric department to test residential, commercial and industrial meters at the shop rather than removing meters in the field and transporting them for testing, saving time and reducing unmetered periods. Two bids were received; Tesco submitted the low bid and Wesco submitted a slightly higher bid for the same manufacturer’s unit.
"This unit will save time and labor costs for our department," Director Brook said. Staff reported the budgeted amount was $28,500, leaving a $35.27 shortfall; council approved the overrun.
Councilman Bradley moved to award the bid to Tesco and authorize the budget overrun; Councilman Holland seconded. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
