Authority approves street closures for Halloween Night Fair and Holiday Extravaganza

The Traffic Authority on Sept. 15 approved street closures and local-traffic restrictions for two community events presented by event organizer Brielle: a Halloween Night Fair on Oct. 25 and a Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 6.

For the Oct. 25 Halloween Night Fair, organizers requested closures from MLK Drive to the Webster Street lot entrance, a local-traffic-only designation for Madison Street to allow Safavilla employees access to their lot and to patrons using the post office, and a full closure of Washington Street from the Webster Street lot entrance to the Pearl and between Marshall Street and Haviland Street. Organizers said local closures would start at 8 a.m.; the full closure would be from 8 a.m. to midnight, with the event running 2–10 p.m.

For the Dec. 6 Holiday Extravaganza, the authority approved a full closure of Washington Street from MLK Drive to the train station between 2 and 9 p.m. and a local-traffic partial closure on Madison Street to ensure employee access to Safavilla’s lot. Organizers said they personally notify Safavilla’s employees about the event well in advance.

Commissioners and TMP staff asked police and staff to ensure that local deliveries and resident access remain possible for specified intersections during closures. The motions to approve both events carried unanimously.
