Commission upgrades Aberdeen, Canton and Jefferson Davis districts from probation to accredited

The Mississippi Commission on School Accreditation voted on Sept. 18, 2025, to upgrade the accreditation status of three school districts — Aberdeen, Canton and Jefferson Davis — from probation to accredited, following staff confirmation that each district had cleared outstanding citations. Dr. Malone told the commission that since the prior meeting the three districts had resolved the citations on record, which allowed consideration of upgrades. Commissioners moved and seconded motions for each district in turn; each motion passed by voice vote. The commission recorded the actions as formal approvals to change accreditation status; staff will reflect the new statuses in the commission’s official records. No additional conditions or follow-up actions were recorded on the motions as presented during the meeting.
