Council members on Sept. 26 said the downtown redevelopment project is moving into its next phase and that city staff will announce dates for upcoming updates in the next few weeks.
At the start of the meeting, a council member reported there were no agenda changes and that the mayor and another official were out of town, then provided an update on downtown redevelopment: "we will have updates in the next couple of weeks, and the next phase of the downtown redevelopment, process, so be on the lookout, don't have quite the dates nailed down yet," the council member said, adding that public engagement to date had "surpassed all measures by our consultants."
The remarks were informational; no formal council action, vote or funding decision on the redevelopment was presented at the Sept. 26 meeting. Council members encouraged residents to participate in upcoming engagement opportunities when dates are posted.
Next steps: City staff will publish dates and materials for the next phase of the downtown redevelopment process when they are available.
