The City of Willowick Plan Review Board on Sept. 11 approved a permit for Vince’s Main Event Center at 28898 Lakeshore Boulevard to operate as an event center for small private gatherings, provided the owner complies with Ordinance 789 governing event centers.

Chairman Brennan led the board’s review of the application by Vince Malone, who was present and identified himself as the property owner and representative. According to Malone’s letter of intent, the space will be used for baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties, work meetings and other small events; Malone said he will provide space and tables and chairs for events.

Board members discussed ordinance requirements for event centers, including security and fee provisions, and reviewed on-site parking. Malone said he could use Timber’s parking lot for overflow if necessary. Chairman Brennan stated that the parking affiliated with the unit is in compliance with the ordinance.

A motion to approve the permit with the condition that the facility comply with Ordinance 789 (Event Centers) was made by Mr. Lazor and seconded by Mr. McLaughlin. Voting aye were Chairman Brennan, Chief Malovrh Jr., Mr. McLaughlin and Mr. Lazor; the motion carried.

The board did not record any additional conditions beyond compliance with the event-center ordinance. No public comment was made on this item during the meeting.
