The Morris County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 24 approved routine meeting minutes and communications, adopted resolutions on the agenda and authorized payment of county bills, and heard no public comments.
The board voted by roll call to approve the resolutions and to pay bills; Deputy Director Shaw, Commissioner Myers, Commissioner Cabana, Commissioner Krickis and Director Sellen recorded "yes" votes. Commissioners Mistragilo and Smith were absent. The clerk of the board told the commissioners that no written public comments had been received before the meeting.
The actions came during a meeting that included a brief expression of condolences for two former county employees — John Alley, a former information-technology employee who worked for Morris County from 1982 until February 2003, and John Konast Jr., a retired civil engineer who worked for Morris County for about 20 years before retiring in 1993 — a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The board had no presentations and no ordinances on the agenda.
When the meeting was opened for public comment, no one came forward to speak; the board reminded the public that comments are limited to three minutes. After completing agenda business, the board moved to adjourn.
The clerk and county staff present included Deborah Lynch (Clerk of the Board), Dina Leary (County Administrator), Brian Murray (Assistant County Administrator), John Napolitano (County Counsel) and Stacy Santucci (Assistant County Counsel).
