The commissioners approved a contract with Bure Group Architecture and Engineering to design repairs addressing subsurface moisture intrusion and exterior envelope issues at the Lucas County Correctional Center; construction funding will be requested in the 2026 capital improvement plan.
The board approved a contract Sept. 16 with Bure Group Architecture and Engineering to provide design services for remediation of subsurface moisture intrusion at the Lucas County Correctional Center.
Jeff Nowak, presenting for the facilities department, said water has been penetrating the jail’s exterior for several years and the county is moving forward with design work to repair the building envelope. The approved contract covers professional design services only; Nowak said construction work is expected to begin early next year and funds for construction will be requested in the county’s capital improvement plan for 2026.
Commissioners voted to authorize the design contract. Facilities will return with construction funding requests and schedules once design work is complete.
