An officer with the Nixa Police Department said the department handled 553 calls for service and 189 traffic stops during the week, including six crashes — five non-injury and one injury — and made nine arrests.
The weekly update, delivered by an on-duty officer, listed additional activity: 49 reports taken, two warrant arrests, four miscellaneous arrests, three felony arrests and six misdemeanor arrests. The officer urged drivers to exercise caution as school resumes, saying, "School is back. That means the kids are on the road and in the crosswalks. Slow down, pay attention, and follow the speed limits. Please remember, obey the sign or pay the fine."
The briefing also included a recruitment message. "The Nixa Police Department is looking for dedicated individuals ready to serve their community. Visit joinnixapd.com and register today," the officer said. The short bulletin concluded with the officer signing off, "this is your weekly wrap up."
