The Committee on Business and Economic Development voted Wednesday to approve the reappointment of Frederick P. Moussalli as director of the District’s Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration for a four-year term to end July 14, 2029.
The committee, chaired by Councilmember Kenan McDuffie, approved a motion to draft the committee report in print with legal staff to make technical, editorial and conforming changes. "All those in favor, please signify by saying aye," McDuffie said; committee members responded and the measure was approved by voice vote.
The resolution, introduced June 13 at the request of the mayor and referred to the committee on June 17, notes that Moussalli has led the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration since February 2009. The presentation to the committee said he previously led the agency’s adjudication division as general counsel for seven years and that his tenure emphasized customer service, community input, transparency, expanding access to DC-made products and protecting public health and safety.
No committee members asked for additional discussion during the meeting and the committee did not record a roll-call vote count in the transcript.
The approval sends the committee report toward finalization with legal staff; the transcript indicates no further conditions or amendments to the reappointment were made at the meeting.
