The Ada County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 readopted a proclamation designating October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Ada County and recognized the work of the Ada County Victim Services Center and community partners.

The proclamation, read at the start of the meeting, notes that domestic violence includes physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and financial abuse, stalking and harassment, and highlights the services the county and partners provide, including emergency services, counseling, medical-forensic exams, case management, safety planning and assistance with civil protection orders. Ada County Prosecutor’s Office staff and victim‑services personnel were present for the proclamation and several board members expressed appreciation for their service and for a survivor who emailed to thank the center for support.

The motion to proclaim October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month was made and seconded; the board adopted the proclamation by voice vote. Commissioners invited the public to participate in the related awareness walk scheduled on the coming Thursday that starts at the county facility and proceeds to the victim services center.
